About Thomas Wood
The Insight of an Executive
The Compassion of a Therapist

Meet Thomas Wood, MBA, LCSW, MSW—the coach who bridges worlds. Thomas brings over 20 years of executive business leadership experience and a wealth of clinical knowledge to his coaching practice. He earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and led teams in industries ranging from manufacturing to media. He is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an MSW from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and advanced post-graduate training in family therapy. This rare combination of business acumen and therapeutic expertise means Thomas offers his clients the best of both worlds—the insight of an executive and the compassion of a therapist.

A Rich Background Shaping a Unique Coaching Approach. After years of working as a licensed therapist in Wisconsin, Thomas expanded his reach through life and relationship coaching so he can help people beyond the bounds of a therapy office. His background as a therapist informs everything he does as a coach—he listens deeply, maintains empathy, and understands the complexities of human emotions. At the same time, his executive experience means he is goal-oriented, strategic, and practical when it comes to personal development. Clients often comment on Thomas’s ability to move seamlessly from spreadsheet to empathy, balancing objective problem-solving with emotional intelligence and warmth.

Expertise and Specialization. Thomas has guided individuals through a wide range of life challenges. He has a particular talent for working with executives and professionals in transition, helping career-driven individuals find clarity and balance when facing changes in their professional lives. He is experienced in supporting individuals through relationship strains—including healing in the aftermath of infidelity and rebuilding trust, or navigating the pain of family estrangement while finding a path toward forgiveness. As a coach who is attuned to men’s issues, Thomas understands the rapidly changing expectations faced by men in today’s world and helps male clients overcome the unique emotional and psychological challenges that can arise. He also works with those grappling with loneliness or a lack of purpose, guiding them to build meaningful connections and rediscover fulfillment in their lives.

Philosophy and Style. Thomas’s coaching style is warm, conversational, and down-to-earth—with an intellectual undertone that reflects his love of learning. He believes, as author Evelyn Waugh wrote, that “To understand all is to forgive all.” This ethos of deep understanding and non-judgment guides every coaching conversation. Thomas meets clients with unconditional positive regard (inspired by the psychologist Carl Rogers), creating a safe space where you feel truly heard and respected. He also brings in wisdom from literature and psychology; whether it’s insights from Erik Erikson’s stages of development or lessons from spiritual texts like A Course in Miracles, Thomas infuses sessions with thoughtful perspectives that provoke reflection. Above all, Thomas’s approach is collaborative—he sees himself as your partner on the journey. He will challenge you gently and ask thought-provoking questions, but always in support of your goals and values. Working with Thomas means having an expert guide who not only inspires you to change but also equips you with practical strategies to make that change a reality.
